How far north did Neanderthals get?

How far north did Neanderthals get? Did Neanderthals ever reach Scandinavia, Denmark, Sweden? It's an interesting question because we often think of Neanderthals as cold adapted. However answering it is very difficult.
I chatted to the team at NeanderEDGE who are working on answering this very problem.

The Onge situation isn’t sad. It’s rage inducing. I hate these situations being called sad. Cause that usually feels like well it’s sad but we can’t change it. When we can absolutely do. And rage is the least we can have for them.
Ned Kelly said that. "Such is life".
I admire this approach, because it is at the same time incredibly innovative but also incredibly risky. Even if their ideas are correct, they could spend their entire careers looking for these sites and never find what they are looking for.
Flint Dibble the archaeologist? The most apt of aptronyms. What's his middle name, Wattle? He pokes holes in arguments with his dibble stick!!

The fact that you're not just digging out the entire site and leaving things for your colleagues to find and research instead of taking all the credit is amazing.

Thanksgiving is a legal holiday from work, I'm not sure it has meaning to most americans (and probably nothing to do with Columbus) how we eat like lunch or dinner time eating with a fork or fingers is more of ritual.
chipmunks and squirrels gather nuts, I think this is a similar thing.

But the first question was; why did our brains start to shrink after the 🧊age? That's not 3000 years ago. When is the exact time of our 🧠 shrinking!? I NEED SPECIFIC ANSWERS😂

Think about what the lack of primitive/lesser cave drawings implies.
God created humans 6,000 years ago on the sixth day of his creation, according to the Bible in Gen 1. This book is true and historical science is mere propaganda.
You've never hunted, have you. You're looking at this all wrong. George Carlin may help.

why are the terms south asia or east asia being referred to when its clearly in India?
I first came across your channel 4 months ago, in February 2024. I believe it was a recommendation of best RUclips channels on Reddit which first made me aware of you. Since then I've watched all of your videos at least once, and I've watched many of them several times. I had never heard of Graham Hancock before hearing you mention him. I had heard of the story of Atlantis from reading Plato, but I had no idea there was an entire, rather large subculture among us who believed that Atlantis has been real. I had begun to study Hermeticism -- coming to it as a reader of Latin and other ancient languages, not as a "spiritual" seeker -- "spiritual" in quotes, because I'm damned if I know what it means. Same goes for "mystical" -- so I probably would've stumbled across the believers in Atlantis eventually by that route. Seems those Hermeticists really got around, and still do. I'm an atheist, my interest in Hermeticism and other religions is historical/linguistic/literary/philosophical/art-historical etc. I wonder whether your videos about Hancock are going to change anyone's mind, because, unless I'm very much mistaken, very few people who can keep up with what you're saying would ever have fallen for Hancock's nonsense to begin with, and very few of Hancock's fans would understand the clear and cogent words coming out of your mouth. In my opinion, yr shootin fleas with a howitzer.
Ok i cant keep telling yall everything It was a token to show where they were from and what tribe. It was i.d..
I see similarity with British Colombia native and other pacific culture
The 4 holed ivory baton was a rachet tie down system to hold a bundle together. The holes were to feed three separate ropes through, the spiral grooves helping to get the rough/loose ends through by twisting it a bit (like threading a needle). These three ropes, tied to three points on the bundle, were pulled through each hole, and tied to other spots on the same bundle, leaving the baton about mid way along the ropes. The baton was then rotated around and around to pull and twist the ropes together and thereby shortening their length and pulling the bundle tight together. The fourth hole (where it was broken) would have had a clip tied to it and this would be clipped onto a fixed point on the bundle to prevent the rachet assembly from unwinding. If someone was pulling hard on the clip it may have been what broke the baton at that hole.
Could one tragic fall or bear attack have caused these injuries
You are fun and have great energy love your work. More and more please
One thing I find a bit odd about no significant neanderthal discoveries in Africa is the narrative that humans originated in Africa. I understand that's to mean modern humans (homo sapiens), but still, one has to wonder where humans originated, i.e. the locations of the earlier branches in the human line.
The oldest modern Homo Sapiens is Omo Kibish with 230,000 years old, however older Homo Sapiens have been found with a combination of modern and ancient characteristics, called Archaic Homo Sapiens in Jebel Irhoud (Morocco), lived 300,000 years ago, has a modern face but a more elongated and smaller braincase than modern Homo Sapiens. If we are guided by Mitochondrial DNA, this tells us that the Khoisan are the oldest group of modern Humans, curiously their Autosomal DNA matches their mitochondrial DNA as the oldest modern Human, language is highly divergent from other humans, Being the only ones, that use clicks in their language, similar to dolphins and whales, the Khoisan are therefore quite interesting for anthropologists, geneticists and linguists, who try to decipher the origin of the language.
Some Native Americans burn their dead, no remains.
The single hole ones are for pulling on ropes! Instead of pulling on the rope directly, it makes more sense to have a comfortable handle you can easily reposition, or even use as a jack using the leverage it provides.
Such a shame, that coconut line was so good and you had to correct it. That's the kind of honesty the world needs a whole lot more of.
11:48 thoe look a lot like big ass needles I can imagne some of those batons would be used to make rope, and some for helping to make knots, either as needles or as rope hooks As for why they look fancy, is because they were portable tools, just like we like cool everyday carry tools
Any remains that are found of unknown origin should first be sampled to prove that they are of the tribe that is claiming them. If they aren't the ancestors of that tribe, then that tribe has no right to them, simply because the remains were found on the tribe's land.
Like a firewood stack , they had a way to burn bone ...not much wood around
Only 5,000 to 70,000 Neanderthals alive at a time? That is mind blowing. I was truly expecting more. Like hundreds of thousands.
The Plains Indians of NorthAmerica may offer some insights to how it’s possible to survive on the open grasslands. Just a thought.
Fascinating! And yes, he could definitely listen to you both talk for hours!
@StefanMilo *Testing what the foot steps on, rather than the bones of the foot, will never compare in accuracy. RuBisCO of (CAM & C4) carbon fixation & PEP carboxylase of (C3) carbon fixation, have very different affinities for Carbon Isotopes, as well as abilities to absorb Carbon from the soil. The nutrient availability of Sodium BiCarbonate & temperatures greatly alters RuBisCO affinities for Carbon Isotopes. Proving layers are percentage accurate to adjacent layers, doesn't prove date accuracy!*

My wife , son and i and our friends at our wonderful Fundamental Baptist Church are value producing humans created in God's image , we are not filthy apes . Our ancestors are Adam and Eve , not some slimy creature that ' supposedly ' crawled out of the ocean a billion years ago . Jesus is the truth and he is alive today . Darwin was a lying con man , snake oil salesman , perverted finch molester and the son of the devil , and he and his pseudo science lies are dead .
